The hardware components required for temperature monitoring include plastic housings, microchips, batteries, and sensors – all of which have the potential to negatively impact the environment if not handled properly. Therefore, we implemented a service model that systemically ensures that the maximum number of components are recycled or reused, and do not end up in landfills. All our temperature loggers are designed to be reused or refurbished in our circular model.

This directly aligns to the UN Sustainability Goal 12, and to sustainability and waste reduction goals that many of our clients in  life-science have. 

Under this approach, we can provide our customers a lower price per logger with the commitment that they will be returned for us to recycle all salvageable components (and when not possible, we will ensure proper disposal). It puts into action our corporate duties to reduce the negative environmental impact of our operations.

The return of the devices can either be self-managed or through the TSS Reverse Logistics service.

• The Reverse Logistics service handles used loggers, whether single use or multiple use. We manage the return of single use loggers to TSS for recycling.
• For multiple use loggers, we re-distribute loggers from receiving to launching sites to optimize use rate. This also includes bringing multi use loggers back to TSS for re-calibration when required and they are then re-entered into the fleet.
