What is Quality?
Lie Berglind has extensive experience in the Life Science industry, working with large Med Tech companies for many years. The Life Science industry, in general, involves quality assurance and regulations, making the step into the temperature-controlled supply chain industry relatively small. Understanding the regulatory system and requirements is an advantage when working with pharmaceutical customers and supporting them as a third-party vendor.
“The challenge for me is to find an efficient balance for this industry. TSS is not a regulatory company in that context, but we work with the pharmaceutical industry. So, we need to have everything in place, such as ISO 9001 and EcoVadis certifications. I bring my knowledge to the table, aiming to set a proficient level for TSS,” said Lie Berglind.
Quality is Control
To Lie Berglind, quality and control are synonymous in the sense that they yield the same result. Having control of the business—knowing what happens—makes work more efficient, benefiting everyone. Apart from making an organization more efficient, quality management contributes to transparent trustworthiness.
“Quality management is beneficial for everyone, and everyone needs to work with it to gain control over our processes. Quality is more than documentation; it is about having a common language and support in our daily work. Quality control contributes to making everybody more confident at work,” Lie Berglind explained.
One of the main challenges for the Life Science and Supply Chain industries currently is sustainability and working through environmentally and ethically sustainable principles. However, sustainability and quality management often go hand in hand, and the combination reveals opportunities to improve business management.
“What I see for TSS is to determine the scope; what we have done, and what we should do in the future. We already have a strong focus on sustainability. We also have a regulatory and quality mindset, which in the end benefits everyone. Being on top of what we are doing makes us more effective, and most people like to be in that environment,” said Lie Berglind.
Core Values at Heart
Primarily, it was the company itself, TSS, that got Lie Berglind interested in temperature management. After working in large American corporations for many years, she found it appealing to join a smaller company. With just 50+ employees, it was easy to get to know all colleagues quickly. And as a bonus, the core values at TSS are very dear to her.
Ensuring that customers can rely on TSS to deliver quality products and services is, of course, an essential part of what Lie Berglind does every day. However, she explains that quality is everybody’s responsibility and requires contributions from all colleagues at TSS. Working together as a team is, therefore, the core of a quality-driven organization.
“Collaboration is important to me. A team is always stronger than the individual, and team spirit is something we have here at TSS. The different departments and teams work very closely together and take great responsibility for what we do,” Lie Berglind describes.
She refers to the employees at TSS taking responsibility very seriously, both on the individual validity level and at the higher level. Additionally, TSS as a company takes great responsibility for the fifth core value—sustainability. As an innovation-driven company, the aim at TSS is to develop solutions that are sustainable for customers as well as the planet.
“Sometimes you might think that innovation is only for our products. However, it could involve new working processes or administrative routines, as well as our operations. Even small steps of change can sometimes generate a significant impact, making the organization more efficient. Step by step, we improve, and quality management is therefore essential,” said Lie Berglind.
